Tryouts for all Newtown High School fall sports teams — with the exception of football — will begin on Thursday, August 27. Football tryouts will begin on Monday, August 17.

Follow Newtown High School athletics and get up to date tryout information on Twitter: @nhsathletics. The tryout schedule is subject to change.

All members of  NHS teams must submit a Newtown High School Sports Participation Form to the coach on the first day of tryouts before he/she can try out for a team. This form may be found at nighthawksports.com, or in the school nurse’s office or main office.

One of the required signatures on the Newtown High School Sports Participation Form is from the school nurse. All members of  NHS teams must have a complete physical examination before they may try out for a sport. The physical must be documented on the blue health form and is good for 13 months from the date on the form. These forms may be found in the nurse’s office, athletic director’s office, main office, or on nighthawksports.com. It is recommended that athletes have a physical examination during the summer so that the form is valid for all three sport seasons.

Pay To Participate Fee: The pay-to participate fee will be collected once the final teams have been selected. These fees are nonrefundable once a student-athlete is selected for a team. All checks should be made out to Newtown High School. Fees are as follows: Football $200, cheerleading $150, dance $100, cross country $150, field hockey $200, volleyball $200, soccer $200, girls’ swimming $200.

Tryout information for ensuing days will be explained by the coaches on the first day of tryouts. Athletes are asked to bring water to all tryouts.
