ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

The Holiday Inn in Danbury (Newtown Road, opposite Bradlees) will host a

record show on Sunday, February 28. Dealer space is still available, at $60

for a six-foot table, or $30 for a three-foot table; call Absolute Vinyl, the

show's sponsor, at 973/746-7775, for details.

The show itself will run 10 am to 4 pm, with no admission charged. Anyone

interested in attending the preview, which opens at 8 pm, can pay $20. THE

BLACK MAMA DHARMA BAND will be performing at noon.

Next month at Tune Inn in New Haven, DROPKICK MURPHYS will celebrate the

release of their second full-length release. The band has a March 19 show in

New Haven, three days after the release of The Gang's All Here . The new album

builds on the band's punk rock sound, and also reflects the influence of the

Boston group's Irish roots with covers of "The Fighting 69th" and "Amazing

Grace," the latter complete with bagpipes.

If the name sounds familiar, it may be because Dropkick Murphys went on the

road for a full US and European tour with THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES during

the fall of 1997.

Speaking of Toad's Place, the New Haven nightclub begins this year's St

Patrick's Day celebrating this weekend with a show Friday night (Feb 26) by

THE HIGHLAND ROVERS. WPLR is co-sponsoring the show, along with Guinness.

There will be an opening set by Carnival Dogs, and one lucky showgoer may even

win a trip to Ireland.

Monday night, REEL BIG FISH will be on stage, headlining to support its newest

album, Why Do They Rock So Hard? Look elsewhere in this week's "Enjoy" section

for details about that show, and a feature on the band.

Next Thursday, it's Yale's Battle of the Bands. The show is open to all ages,

and doors open at 6:30. The music starts at 7 pm.

MIGHTY PURPLE's CD release party at Toad's Place will be on the 11th of next

month. The band has been signed to its first label, Wild Pitch Records of New

York City, and will be celebrating the release of Para Mejor O Peor... Mighty

Purple Live , the majority of which was recorded right at the historic New

Haven nightclub.

No tickets yet, but TRAGICALLY HIP has been added to the calendar for an April

30 concert at The Webster Theatre in Hartford. The show is open to all ages.

It's official. After months of rumor and conjecture, primarily over the

Internet, TWISTED SISTER, the legendary band that became one of the world's

biggest rock acts of the Eighties, has reunited for a limited number of live

appearances in the summer of 1999.

Original members Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Marc Mendoza, Eddie Ojeda and

A.J. Pero will perform together, in full make-up and costume, for the first

time in 12 years. The band's 1999 schedule has yet to be released.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
