Vonda Shepard To Headline Playhouse Fundraiser

RIDGEFIELD — Fresh off her stint as nightclub performer on Ally McBeal, Vonda Shepard will be performing her energizing yet intimate music at a “Start the Season Gala” on Friday, September 19, at The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts. The gala begins at 6:30 pm, with Vonda Shepard’s performance at 8:30.

The gala, which is billed as festive attire affair, features food and décor by J&J’s Gathering Place and vodka and wine-tasting by Ancona’s Wines & Liquors.

After Ms Shepard’s performance fans will have the chance to meet her during a reception hosted by Merrill Lynch with champagnes from Cellar XV. During the intermission, a limited item auction will be held.

All funds raised (tickets are $175 for the cocktail reception and show and $225 for the full evening including the “Meet and Greet”) go to The Playhouse for their continuing presentation of both live events and first-run movies.

Vonda Shepard has enjoyed one of the more unique career breakthroughs in pop music history, having shot to fame as a result of the hit television series Ally McBeal. Not only was her “Searchin’ My Soul” (from the CD The Radical Light) used as the series’ theme, Shepard herself became a regular cast member, playing the house performer at the local nightclub.

To purchase tickets or for further information call playhouse’s box office at 203-438-5795. The playhouse is at 80 East Ridge, in the town’s old high school building. Additional information on the building’s full schedule as well as directions to the venue are available at www.RidgefieldPlayhouse.org.
