Town Clerk Debbie Aurelia Halstead advises Newtown voters that absentee ballots are available Friday, October 4 for the Municipal Election to be held in Newtown on November 5, 2019.

Any qualified registered voter may vote by absentee if unable to vote in person due to:

- Active U.S. military service.

- Illness or physical disability.

- Absence from Town during voting hours.

- Religious beliefs which forbid secular activity.

- Service as an election official at a polling place other than his/her own polling place.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Special hours for absentee voting will be held on Saturday, November 2 from 9 am to noon at the Newtown Municipal Center. This session closes at 12 pm sharp.

Special Event Monday: Newtown Bee Candidates Meet & Greet

Ahead of this year's municipal elections. The Newtown Bee will host its first Candidates Meet & Greet event on Monday, October 7, at Reverie Brewing Company.

Different from events of previous years, next week's event will not include a Q&A session with those running for office. Instead, the public is invited to visit Newtown's first craft brewery between 6 and 8 pm, where they will find many of those running this season for local office. All incumbent and political newcomers have been invited to participate.

At least five local restaurants have agreed to donate pizza for the event. Attendees can purchase the Reverie beverage of their choice, and enjoy socializing with those on hand.

There is no charge to attend. Click here for additional information.
