To the Editor:

Experience and Reason are key traits that transform good candidates into great ones in Newtown. Michelle Ku, a candidate with intelligence, integrity, and an impressive track record, is an ideal fit for our Board of Selectmen.

For the past 11 years, Michelle has poured her heart and soul into our town’s betterment. Her tenure on various boards and commissions, from the Charter Revision Commission to the Board of Education to the Legislative Council, has provided her with invaluable insights into the inner workings of our local government.

Notably, during her time on the Charter Revision Commission, she helped institute the separation of our municipal and education budgets (these budgets have passed on the first referendum ever since). This was followed by eight years on the Board of Education (four of which as Chair), where she championed initiatives like the new Sandy Hook School, ushered in sensible school start times, helped navigate our schools through a pandemic, and finally brought air conditioning and a new HVAC system to Hawley Elementary School.

Michelle’s experience doesn’t stop at our town’s borders; she’s been an asset on numerous state and regional boards and advisory teams. Her unbiased mindset and dedication have earned her the confidence of those who’ve served alongside her.

As you consider your vote this November, remember this: There’s no substitute for the seasoned leadership and experience of Michelle Ku. Let’s make this vote all about Newtown — vote Michelle Ku for Board of Selectmen!
