1947 to 2022

Edward Patrick O’Malley, dedicated husband, father, and friend of many, passed peacefully on October 7, 2022, in his Danbury home at the age of 75. Born the eldest of four children to Patricia (Haley) and Edward O’Malley. Although born in Queens, Ed grew up in the Bronx surrounded by his siblings and lifelong friends.

He was a graduate of Fordham Prep and Fordham University, then earned his MBA from the University of Connecticut. As a licensed Certified Public Accountant, he was a partner in the accounting firm of Ruzek O’Malley and Burns for many years. He joined the Federal Accounting Standards Board as a controller and was the president of the Western Connecticut Federal Credit Union. Despite his many professional accomplishments, Ed’s favorite job was being a professor of accounting and finance at Western Connecticut State University. He called it "the best job in the world."

In 1973 Ed married the girl who, 17 years earlier, he had sat behind in the third grade. Together they raised their close-knit family in Danbury and his greatest joy was being with his beloved grandchildren. Ed was an avid golfer, chocolate enthusiast, storyteller, and all-around sports fan. He was outgoing, quick to laugh, immensely loyal, and loved his family and friends deeply.

Ed is predeceased by his parents, Patricia and Edward O’Malley.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; their children, Timothy and his wife Kristi, Kelly and her husband Sean, and Maura Kate; his three grandsons, Charlie, Henry, and Ned; his siblings, James (Jayne), Joan (Leo), and Kevin (Cheryl); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, October 14, at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home at 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, Conn., jowdykanefuneralhome.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 15, at 10 am at St Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield, Conn., sesparish.org.

To ensure the safety of all guests, the family requests all who come to celebrate Ed practice social distancing.
