Michael Alberico, Sr, of Newtown, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022. He was 95 years old.

Michael was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., on May 28, 1927, to Cosmo and Rose (Perone) Alberico. Michael had one sister, Marie Garufi, and one brother, Cosmo.

Michael was married 72 years to his recently (January 2022) deceased wife, Theresa. He has three children: Barbara of St Augustine, Fla., Michael and his wife, Maria, of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Cosmo and his wife, Nancy, of Newtown; eight grandchildren: Michael, Alex, Stephen, Michael III (wife Veronica), Michele Hnatiw (husband George), Matthew, Lisa Montellese (husband Justin), and Nicole Genova (husband Christopher); and seven great-grandchildren: Ethan, Anthony, Alyssa, Mia, Kyle, Camden, and Eric.

Michael was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army, and a master electrician where he owned and ran an electrical contracting business for four decades. In his younger years, he was very active in his local community participating in many local civic organizations. He served as president of the New Rochelle Lions Club back in the early 70s. Michael was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Michael will be remembered for his loving personality, dedication to his family, and genuine smile.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 17, from 3 to 7 pm at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 18, at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown.

The family would appreciate memorial donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.

The family would like to give special thanks to Michael’s very devoted full-time caregiver Charity Mphela. The family is also very appreciative for the care provided by Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
