Born March 11, 1936, Died October 7, 2023

Fernando Paniccia, 87, of Newtown Conn., entered into the gates of heaven on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at home with his family around his bedside. He was the loving father of four children, grandfather of eight grandchildren and one great grandson, and husband of late Margaret Paniccia, who passed away in January of 2021.

Fernando was born in Torrice, Province of Frosinone, Italy, on March 11, 1936. He immigrated to the United States in 1956, where he lived in Bridgeport, Conn. He worked as a union laborer for Local 665. He was one of the original members to start the Italian club in Bridgeport, called Circlo Sportivo.

Fernando loved watching Serie A Italian football league, being a lifetime supporter of Lazio. He loved teaching his kids and grandchildren how to grow a garden, make wine, homemade sausage, and jar tomatoes. He loved teaching all the things he was taught as a child from his family to keep his Italian legacy and heritage going with the next generation to enjoy.

If you needed a helping hand, Fernando was the one to call. He never said he was too busy to help you out. From telling stories growing up in Italy, to making everyone smile with his jokes and pasta sauce, was something we all loved and enjoyed. His love and devotion to his children and grandchildren was what made him happy.

Fernando leaves behind to cherish his memory his two sons, Mario and his wife Roseanna, his son Michael and his wife Michelle, his pre-deceased son Mark, his daughter Margaret, and her fiance Christopher, his grandchildren, Marissa (James), Melissa, Christina, Michael, Domenick, Mario Jr, Margaret (Maggy), Brianna, great grandson Morgan, his two sisters Elsa Palmieri, Celestine Roma and all of his nieces and nephews...

Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours Monday, October 16, 2023 at Honan Funeral Home, located at 58 Main Street, between the hours of 9 am and 11 am.

Immediately afterwards, the family will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at St Rose of Lima Church, at 11:30 am (same day).

Interment will follow in the St Rose Cemetery, Cherry Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Fernando’s memory to:
