More Car Troubles For Candidate Amybeth Laroche

To The Editor:

Well, looks like State Senate candidate Amybeth Laroche has even more car troubles. You’ll remember how she criticized the property car tax she paid. Problem was, she hadn’t paid it for years. She only paid it after getting caught by a journalist. Then she complained that the car property tax was unfairly going to the State in Hartford. Problem is, the car property tax (which was capped) doesn’t go to Hartford, it goes to the municipality to relieve real property taxes. You would think she would know this since she is a member of the Board of Finance, in which the Finance Director in her bi-monthly reports list them as town revenues. One can only wonder about her capabilities on the Board of Finance and numerous absences since she declared her candidacy.

And now, from Amybeth Laroche’s campaign filings we learn that she has reimbursed herself from her campaign funds over $1,500 for “mileage”. This is unprecedented. Occasionally, campaign workers will submit mileage reimbursement but not the candidate him/herself. The obvious reasons are 1) the appearance of impropriety — paying herself with campaign money; 2) documentation requirements — dates, destinations, campaign purpose and mileage must all be recorded and made transparent; to date no such transparency has been documented; 3) mixed campaign and personal travel are often impossible to separate out.

One thing is consistent, though … like Trump/MAGA grifters, she’s not hesitant to help herself, even from her own campaign contributors.

Rob Blanchard is not grifting off you or his contributors. Rob has the experience needed to do the job, and the integrity, fiscal responsibility and family values to do it honestly. It’s as simple as that.

Please vote for integrity, fiscal responsibility, and family values. Vote for Rob Blanchard for State Senator on November 3!
