To the Editor:

I am writing to voice my support for someone who would be a fantastic addition to our Board of Finance: John Fletcher. I have had the opportunity to meet John Fletcher several times over the last few years. He has an impressive background in finance, having worked for IBM for decades with budgeting, finances, and operations, after obtaining his undergraduate degree in economics and then an MBA, both from impressive institutions.

More importantly, anyone who has met John Fletcher will immediately know him to be thoughtful, understanding, and intelligent, particularly when discussing issues that affect our town and community. He listens and truly tries to understand others’ points of view and find common ground when he can.

Finally, he has lived and raised his children here over many years, and is undeniably committed to helping keep it Nicer in Newtown. All of these qualities are exactly what we need in our Board of Finance, and I’m excited to cast my vote for John!
