After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Christina Frey Reed passed from this Earth on October 12, 2023 with her husband and children by her side.

Chris was born in York, Penn., on June 19, 1942 to her loving parents Robert and Mary Jane Frey.

She graduated from York Country Day School and attended West Chester State University, where she met her future husband, John. They were married shortly after graduation and began their teaching careers in the Norristown Area School District in 1964.

After their children John and Elizabeth were born, the welfare and happiness of her family became Chris’ true life calling and the source of her profoundly joyful life. The frequent, love-filled gatherings of the extended family at the home of Chris’ parents resulted in a closeness so dearly valued by her.

In 1982 the family arrived in Newtown, a town which they grew to love and cherish. It was here that their three granddaughters experienced the wonderful traditions that permeated Chris’ Main Street home. The Labor Day Parade and Halloween brought continuous smiles and laughter.

Chris loved building family life with emerging traditions that her children and the granddaughters could love and embrace throughout their own lives. The annual summer vacations with the grandchildren and their families in Ocean City, N.J., were very special to Chris.

For more than 34 years in Newtown, Chris took part in many, many civic activities. Among her favorites were the Relay For Life, and the After Prom for high school students. Five Islands, Maine, was for 27 years Chris and John’s beloved vacation home, where happiness for both was abundant.

Chris was her family’s North Star and Safe Harbor. How very blessed by God they were to have been such an important part of her well lived life.

Chris leaves behind her beloved husband, Dr John Reed; son John Reed, daughter-in-law Carolyn and granddaughter Ashley; daughter Elizabeth (Reed) Rey, son-in-law David and granddaughters Chloe and Haley; brother Robert Frey Jr and sister-in-law Sally, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Chris was predeceased by her sister, Mary Susan Couser.

A celebration of Chris’ life will be held for family and friends in May in Newtown.

Internment will be at Newtown Village Cemetery.

The Alzheimer’s Foundation (https://alzfdn.org/) has been selected by the family for anyone wishing to make a contribution in her memory.

Chris-the kindest of friends and a lot of fun. A good listener and a loyal confidant. I’ll never forget when we lost John’s socks in the laundromat in France -it was so comical -we have a photo of Chris holding the errant socks. Although she was not in my day to day anymore-it was nice to know she was there.
