To The Editor:

Newtown deserves a state representative who listens, shows up, and puts our community first. For nearly 14 years, Mitch Bolinsky has been that representative.

I’m proud to call Mitch a close and dear friend. I’ve seen his compassion, dedication to our town, and willingness to give his time and energy to the people he serves. Mitch cares deeply about Newtown, and he turns that care into action.

Experience matters when it comes to navigating Hartford, building relationships across party lines, and delivering results. Mitch understands how the legislature works, knows our community’s priorities, and has a proven record of turning advocacy into action.

Mitch has fought for our schools and advocated for students with dyslexia, autism, and other learning differences. Working with families and advocates, he helped advance the creation of Connecticut’s Office of Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities. He has also worked to protect education funding and bring home resources for school safety.

As a leader on the legislature’s Aging Committee, Mitch has advocated for older adults, family caregivers, and policies that help seniors remain independent. His work has earned him repeated recognition from AARP Connecticut.

Here in Newtown, Mitch has worked with our state delegation and community partners to support funding for the Sandy Hook Permanent Memorial, preserve the historic Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard, and advance the Housatonic Valley Rail Trail extension. The town recently received a $170,000 state grant to help continue the trail’s construction.

What makes Mitch exceptional is the way he serves. He knows that behind every concern is a person or family looking for someone to listen and help.

Mitch has earned our trust, and Newtown is stronger because of his commitment. Please join me in voting to reelect Mitch Bolinsky on November 3.
