To The Editor:

Amybeth Laroche has said in some of her videos that courage isn’t something you wait for, it’s something you practice. I think that’s the attitude more politicians need, and her campaign is the clearest example I can point to.

She didn’t set out to run for office. She has said she looked at where Connecticut is headed, decided it needed new leadership, and stepped forward when nobody else did. Since then, it’s been months of events across four towns, a lot of them with people who normally don’t follow local politics until meeting her.

Why should that matter to you as a voter? A State Senator will face votes where the easy thing is to go along with Hartford. While the right thing is to speak up for the people back home. Someone who has already stepped forward when it wasn’t easy, and who has no political career to protect, is more likely to speak up when the pressure is on.

That’s the person I want representing Bethel, Easton, Fairfield and Newtown.

Next Tuesday, I’m voting for AmyBeth.
