To the Editor:

I whole-heartedly endorse Joan Plouffe for Police Commissioner. I am happy to see that all the people who have endorsed Joan in weeks past, pointed out the exact same attributes that I feel would make Joan the perfect candidate for Police Commissioner.

The town of Newtown would be lucky to have Joan Plouffe on the Police Commission. I have known Joan for over 15 years as a neighbor, friend, and confidant. She is the smartest, most resourceful person I know. Whenever a task had to be completed, Joan would spend hours researching the topic at hand to make sure her “final answer” was thorough and correct.

Joan is currently the incumbent on the Police Commission, having been encouraged by Dan Rosenthal to fill the remainder of his seat when he became First Selectman.

I have always admired Joan’s tenacious and selfless nature. She has been on the PTA boards at HOM and Reed and focused on advocacy. Joan has also spent tireless hours serving on the Charter Revision Commission, the Long Term Strategic Planning Committee for the school district, as well the Aging Commission. She has raised two wonderful, respectful, law abiding children who have excelled in the Newtown school system. I am in awe and proud of how Joan has undertaken her role as a current police commissioner with such vigor and commitment — although honestly, I shouldn’t be amazed. As a former practicing attorney, Joan was able to transition to her new role as police commissioner very easily. Her thoroughness, intelligence, and compassion has served her well, along with the citizens of Newtown. You cannot go wrong voting for Joan Plouffe for Police Commission!
