WALHALLA, S.C. — Blanche Kowalski, 78, beloved wife of the late Peter Kowalski, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in her home.

Blanche was born in Greenwich, Conn., to the late Anthony and Angelina Docimo Kulikowski.

Mrs Kowalski was a longtime resident of Sandy Hook, where she raised her two children, Eric and Tina (Caminiti). She spent many years in the insurance industry before working as a special education teacher’s aide at Newtown Middle School.

She retired to Walhalla, S.C., in 2010, where she tutored children learning English. She and her husband Peter donated much of their time, and their garden vegetables, to the community. She touched many lives through the good works of the Brown Bag Mission Group in Walhalla.

She enjoyed reading and being a part of her book club. She also had a passion for music, antiques and vintage pottery. She loved all animals and was always surrounded by them.

Blanche is survived by her son Eric Caminiti and his wife Katie; daughter Tina Caminiti; stepdaughter Marie Barbieri and her husband Sal; stepson Wayne Kowalski and his wife Sage; grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Luke and Jack Caminiti; stepgrandchildren Resa and Anthony Barbieri; and brother Anthony Kulikowski and his wife Jackie.

The family would like to extend their eternal thanks to Blanche’s caregivers Chris Rotan, Jackie Lacey and Jenn Adams for their exceptional care, love, and support over the years.

The family will hold a private memorial service in Walhalla and an additional memorial luncheon in Stamford on November 11.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) in memory of Mrs Kowalski.
