Vote Democrat On Election Day

To the Editor:

Politicians are talking about inflation and crime to try to get your vote. But ask yourself: what is each party’s plan for addressing these problems? Democrats have proposals that would actually help.

Let’s look at the economy. Republicans say they want to lower taxes and eliminate regulations. But this could increase inflation, and may be why more money is going to rich people and corporations.

Democrats want an economy that benefits everyone and makes Connecticut affordable for all of us. The Democrats’ platform includes:

*A living wage for all.

*Tax policy that supports the middle class, small business and economic development.

*Affordable public higher education, including trade and technical schools to prepare all our workers for good jobs.

*Affordable housing and childcare.

While some Republicans suggest the answer to crime is more incarcerations, research has identified more effective approaches.

The Democrats platform includes:

*Investing in proven crime prevention strategies.

*Promoting school retention and graduation.

*Community policing strategies.

*Common sense gun safety, because firearms are the leading cause of death in children in our country.

Democrats want everyone to have a say in our democracy. “Voter fraud” has been proven to be almost non-existent; the real problem is making sure everyone can vote, and that every vote counts.

You can look at the solutions Democrats propose on other issues also. Go to ctdems.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/2022-CT-Democratic-Party-Platform.pdf

Please vote on November 8! And please vote for Democratic candidates.

Your pocketbook, your community, and your democracy will thank you.

How does the author feel about the strategies and methods put in place by Democratic leaders of cities where crime is now rampant and repeat offenses commonplace?
