To the Editor:

I first met Harry (Arora) when I interviewed for the Director of Operations position with his startup hedge fund some 20 years ago. My first impression of Harry was that he was perhaps the smartest person I had ever known. Today, my opinion remains intact.

Working with Harry, I witnessed how he grew the business by communicating his market perspective to investors and by making sound risk adverse investment decisions. So, when I heard that Harry was considering running for State Treasurer, I immediately thought there could be no better choice. The state’s finances have been mismanaged for decades and the performance of the state’s pension fund is abysmal.

We have all felt the sting of inflation make living more expensive. We have all paid double for gas at the pump. Our retirement savings have lost a good portion of their value. And to add to all the pain, our taxes continue to go up. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Harry can figure out the root issues to fix the problems. He knows how to protect and improve our state’s pension returns while reducing fees. He knows how to implement policies that would promote new jobs.

It doesn’t matter which party you associate with; it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know we are heading in the wrong direction. Harry is not a politician; he is a highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated individual who is willing to serve the public and fix Connecticut’s finances.

If you really want to change Connecticut for the better, voting for Harry will finally get the process going. Let’s not fumble this opportunity.

The state pension fund being underwater becomes a tax burden on all Connecticut citizens. The people of Connecticut’s money needs to be managed more responsibly by someone with experience in financial management, like Harry Arora, who has a proven record of success
