Girls’ Swim And Dive Caps Regular Season With Win Over Brookfield

Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team concluded the regular season with a 99-76 win over visiting Brookfield on October 28. The Nighthawks competed in the South-West Conference diving championships at New Fairfield High on November 1 and will participate in the swimming portion of the championships at Masuk of Monroe on Saturday, November 5 at 3:30 pm. Results from the Brookfield meet are as follows:

The 200 yard medley relay team of Ella Seaver, Zoe Petertonjes, Grace Fischer, and Alexa Kwarcinski was first in a time of 1:57.53.

Diellza Limani won the 200 freestyle race in 2:05.38. Kwarcinski won the 200 individual medley in 2:21.15. Petertonjes was first in the 50 in 26.11.

Katie Yeaton won the diving competition with a score of 189.75.

Petertonjes was first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.75. Limani was first in the 100 in 57.13. Anna Shew won the 500, making her final touch in 5:52.52.

In the 200 free relay, Petertonjes, Fischer, Maddy Watson, and Limani took first clocking in at 1:50.25.

Newtown locked up the team victory and exhibitioned the last three events. In the 100 backstroke race, Kwarcinski had the second fastest time in 1:05.66. In the 100 backstroke, Fischer recorded the best time, finishing in 1:13.45. The 400 free relay of Limani, Lauren Smiley, Shew, and Kwarcinski recorded the best event time in 3:56.64.
