Elizabeth M. Staples

Elizabeth M. Staples, 90, wife of the late Stanley Staples, of 26 Diamond Drive, Newtown, died in her home December 2.

She was born in New York City September 28, 1910, daughter of the late John K. and Mathilde (Stelling) Ropke. Mrs Staples was a graduate of New York Teachers College. A resident of Newtown since 1976, she had previously lived for many years in Rockville Center, N.Y.

She is survived by two nephews and their wives, Franklin P. Payne of Baldwin, N.Y., and Jeffrey B. Payne of Deer Park, N.Y.; one niece, Jane Payne, of Newtown; and five great-nieces and great-nephews, Janice Stock, Charles, Christine, Cynthia, and Christopher Payne.

Funeral services were private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
