Nature Walk
WESTON â With the arrival of the holiday season, many family members and friends will be visiting the area. The Nature Conservancy is offering a family nature walk to introduce them and area residents to the 1,756-acre Devilâs Den Preserve, which is located on the Weston/Redding border and which comprises the largest contiguous nature sanctuary in southwestern Connecticut.
On Sunday, December 17, from 1 to 3 pm, trained natural history guides Jackie and Dick Troxwell of Weston will lead the family program.
The guides will discuss the human and natural history of the area, focus on some of the obvious features in the forest, and look for signs of animal life, along with the food available to over-wintering creatures in the months ahead.
There is no charge for the program, but registration is required. Interested participants should call the Den office at 203/226-4991 weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm for registration, information, or directions.
