New Women’s Chorus Seeking Members

WATERBURY — Bel Canto, a new chorus for women’s voices, is scheduling auditions for experienced singers.

Led by conductor and music director Leslie Eckstein, the chorus of 20 to 25 voices will perform music of all styles and types from the 10th to the 21st centuries. The chorus will be centrally located in Waterbury to draw from all areas of the state.

Rehearsals will be Sunday evenings.

“There is an abundance of mixed choruses in the state, and the vast repertoire of music for women’s voices is not being addressed,” said Ms Eckstein in explaining her decision to start the new chorus.

Auditions are being scheduled through the end of December. They are being held at First United Methodist Church, 250 Country Club Road in Waterbury.
