CWU Planning World Community Day Celebration

The public is invited to join Church Women United’s Newtown and Greater Danbury units for a World Community Day Celebration on Friday, November 6, at 6 pm. The event will be at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, and will include pizza dinner followed by a dramatization by children from area churches.

The theme of World Community Day this year is “Piecing Earth Together.” With that in mind, organizers have invited Rob Sibley to be keynote speaker.

Mr Sibley, a member of Newtown United Methodist Church, is deputy director for planning and land use in Newtown. He will be speaking about the environmental impact on conservation.

The children’s dramatization is being directed by Jen Peterson of Trinity Episcopal Church, and Linda Manganaro of Newtown Congregational is in charge of the celebration.

Registration is needed, and there is a cost of $5 per person, which will cover pizza, salad, desserts, and coffee and soda.

Contact Peg Forbell at 426-3454 or ecforbell@snet.net, or send registration to her at 128 Walnut Tree Hill Road, Sandy Hook CT 06482. Include name, phone number, and email when registering via mail.
