The Newtown community lost a number of residents in 2021 who left their mark on town, whether it be through their time in politics, organizations, or schools.

Randi (Decater) Beardsley, of Newtown and Auburn, California, passed this life peacefully on Saturday, September 25, just one day before her seventieth birthday, after a long battle with ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease.

“Anna” Antoinette Davis, née Anzalone, died peacefully on December 25, in Newtown, just two months shy of her 111th birthday.

Carolyn Finnigan Reil passed away peacefully on November 12, 2019, at the age of 78.

Robert Cicarelli, Jr, 57, of Sandy Hook, passed suddenly and unexpectedly on December 24.

Robert Brainerd Hutchinson was born on September 24, 1951, and died peacefully at home in Hanover, Ill., on December 10, 2021, after a long and valiant fight with cancer.

Bernard P. Long, 93, died on Saturday, December 25, at Elim Park Health Care Center.

Ellen Beth Andrews, 51, of Newtown, lost a long courageous battle with cancer on December 23.

Raymond Thompson Jr, 82, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021.
