Our beloved wife, mother, and nonni, Alida B. Shea, passed away with her husband by her side on September 2, after a very courageous and difficult battle with cancer.
The Reverend William Henry West, of Old Saybrook, died peacefully at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, on Thursday, August 26, after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.
John Charles Taylor, fondly known as “Chuck,” passed away peacefully on August 28, at Regional Hospice in Danbury, Conn., while surrounded by his loving family.
Beryl (Semple) Merrill, age 81, of Southbury, passed away peacefully under the care of Hartford Hospice at the Lutheran Home of Southbury, on June 22, 2021.
Mary Carmody Harris passed away Friday, July 23, at home in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., surrounded by her sons, James and Brian, and her husband, Miles.

As a democrat that knows the value of loyalty and who has observed both Michelle Ku and Brandon Moore at Michelle’s recent event and at another gatherings, my family and I stand behind Michelle Ku. She has spent over 14 years actively fighting for Newtown residents and not simply a few months in order to run for a state seat. I think all the candidates are worthy of praise but I want someone who knows what new families and older residents need. I built our home in Newtown hoping our sons will return one day, after their work elsewhere winds down and during our current retirement, to raise families in Newtown. I want someone with a record of advocacy like Michelle’s but also with her sense of commitment and loyalty. I do agree that she deserves the DTC support but when a party is concerned about hurting candidates’ feelings, there is nothing you can do but put one foot in front of the other and she will do that with her usual strength, intelligence, integrity and transparency.
