To the Editor:The Bee, a collaborative effort between the Commission on Aging and Friends of Newtown Seniors resulted in a beautiful mural being placed in the new senior center. The Bee, we neglected to cite the actual sources of the funds, which was the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts.

As reported previously in

In our previous letter concerning the support for the mural project we noted that the program was funded through a grant administered by the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut, which is correct; however, in our discussions with

The grant allowed us to engage The Art Spot of Danbury for the planning and guidance of our local volunteers, who created the mural. In addition, the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission awarded Friends of Newtown Seniors $1,000 to complete the installation of the mural, including a plaque citing contributors. This project represented the best in collaboration between government, nonprofits and for-profit entities to complete a public art project. We look forward to bringing together other groups in similar efforts to benefit the Town of Newtown.
