Sometimes humorous and often sinister, Butcher’s Cabin tells the story of an elderly man set free from prison, having served most of his life for the murders of his wife and father. With little time left, he must face his personal demons and come to terms with the scandal that cost him everything he held dear.

The title role of Amos Butcher will be portrayed by Keir Dullea, best known for his role as Commander Dave Bowman in Stanley Kubrick’s epic 2001: A Space Odyssey. Mr Dullea has starred in 24 motion pictures, winning a Golden Globe Award for his role as the emotionally disturbed young protagonist in Frank Perry’s David & Lisa. His films also include Robert DeNiro’s The Good Shepherd as Angelina Jolie’s father, Accidental Husband opposite Uma Thurman, Otto Preminger’s Bunny Lake is Missing with Laurence Olivier, and The Fox, an adaptation of the D.H. Lawrence novella, with Sandy Dennis. He revisited his role as Commander Dave Bowman in 2010, an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke’s novel, which also starred Roy Scheider, John Lithgow, and Helen Mirren.

Mr Dullea’s resume also include television credits and theater, from Broadway to London’s West End.

Kent R. Brown’s works have been produced in Canada, Belgium, The Netherlands, Australia and the US. American venues include People’s Light and Theatre Company, Walnut Street Theatre, Greenbrier Valley Theater, Orlando Repertory, BoarsHead Theatre, West Coast Ensemble and Boston Theatre Works. Titles include Valentines and Killer Chili, Two Beers and a Hook Shot, Larry’s Favorite Chocolate Cake, Designer Genes, Playtime, The Seduction of Chaos, Reduced For a Quick Sale, and the award-winning In The Middle of Nowhere, the latter of which was presented in March by The Stray Kats Theatre Company and featured Mr Dullea with his wife, the actress Mia Dillon.

Building an audience and recognition in the community before venturing into fully mounted productions, Stray Kats Theatre Company currently offers staged readings of contemporary classics and new works with professional casts. Each evening includes a talk-back with the company, and coffee and dessert by Andrea’s Pastry Shop of Newtown.

Tickets are $25 per show when purchased in advance, or $30 at the door. As a special incentive, Stray Kats is offering for a limited time a $25 discount on the remaining five plays of this season ($100 for the remaining five plays).
