What’s More Important Than Saving Lives?

To the Editor,

Since COVID started, you haven’t seen any police parked on Rt 302.

Last summer I was going the speed limit and as I got almost to Scudder Rd, all of a sudden the car behind me flew by me going about 70 mph in a no passing zone. A curve is there and someone was coming around the curve. The person who passed me cut me off. If I didn’t slam on the brakes, I would have been dead and would not be writing this letter.

It also just happened last week!

I can’t believe the town won’t let the police dept. hire another officer while the Board of Selectmen, the Board of Finance and the Legislative Council is allowed to spend $100,000 for eight new pickleball courts! Guess that’s more important than saving lives ...

The Police department has been cutting back on traffic management ever since Chided Kehoe left the Department. I don’t believe it has anything to do with manpower, and certainly one additional offer would not make one ounce of difference. When the Commission makes it a priority you will see a remarkable change.
