The Beauty Of Prince William Sound

SOUTH BRITAIN — The next general meeting of Lillinonah Audubon Society will be held at the Parish House of South Britain Congregational Church on Thursday, March 22. The topic for the evening will be “Prince William Sound and the Copper River Delta in Alaska.”

The social hour will begin at 7:30 pm, followed by the program at 8:30. All are welcome and there is no charge to attend.

The speaker will be Sam Fried, a birder, naturalist, writer, and photographer. Mr Fried will present a slide presentation on one of the most beautiful and bountiful bodies of water on earth. Prince William Sound is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and tidewater glaciers.

Traveling aboard the Discovery, the audience will explore the sound’s shoreline. It will also learn about the Copper River Delta, home to the largest gathering of shorebirds in the world. Inland birding can be spectacular as well, with bald eagles and trumpeter swans to be seen.

For additional information contact Mary K. Harmon at 264-4124. The parish house is on Route 172, at the intersection with East Flat Hill Road.
