Dodgingtown Cell Tower Will Be

An Eyesore

To the Editor:

As a subscriber to The Bee, I like to casually read the paper, concentrating on current events and other items of interest, rarely reading the legal notices, but this will change. I recently found out from a good friend who does read the legal section that AT&T plans to put a wireless telecommunications facility on 61 Dodgingtown Road. This location is the Dodgingtown Garage property with residential homes surrounding it.

According to legal representation for AT&T, this “proposed facility will be located in the southeastern edge of the property and will consist of a 150-foot self-supporting monopole tower, antennas and 40’x75’ fenced equipment compound designed to accommodate unmanned equipment in a single-story equipment buildings or on concrete pads. Vehicular access to the site will extend from Dodgingtown Road along an existing access drive, a distance of approximately 180’ to the proposed Facility. Underground utility connections would extend along the access drive from an existing utility pole on Dodgingtown Road.”

The application has been submitted to the State of Connecticut Siting Council for approval and if Dodgingtown residents do not get involved I fear this tower will become a permanent eyesore for our area.

Once again, money is the driving force, money at the expense of property owners. I cannot help wondering if the parties involved with this deal would approve this tower for their own backyards.
