Open House At Continence Center

SOUTHBURY — Candlewood Center for Women’s Health and Urology Associates of Danbury in cooperation with Danbury Hospital announce the opening of the Southbury Continence Center, a facility specializing in the treatment of bladder control and related problems for both men and women.

A collaborative project of both physician practices, the Centinence Center is located at 141 Main Street North, Southbury, in the offices of Health Specialists of Southbury. The public is invited to an Open House on Wednesday, June 13 from 6 to 8 pm to learn about advanced treatment options, and discuss any related health concerns. Refreshments will be provided; no RVSP required.

The Continence Center is staffed by both urologists and obstetrician/gynecologists associated with Danbury Hospital. Medical directors are Edward Beck, MD, a board-certified urologist, and James Xenophone, MD, a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist.

Offering a comprehensive team approach to the diagnosis and treatment of incontinence, the center will treat the many types of incontinence, including stress, frequency, urgency, overflow, and combination. The center is also equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to held identify the cause of incontinence problems quicker and more efficiently.

In addition, the center will offer patients a variety of treatment options that include medications, biofeedback, exercise, minimally invasive procedures, and surgery to correct problems.

“Loss of bladder control is a more common problem than people realize,” said Dr Beck. “There’s no need to suffer in silence; there’s help available, and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about.”

Dr Xenophone said that the problem doesn’t just affect the elderly, as is commonly thought, but rather, is pervasive among women who’ve given birth.
