The Newtown Womenâs Slo-Pitch Softball League will open its 2000 season on Monday, June 19, with games at Treadwell Park (Dunkinâ Donuts versus Emmett & Glander), Fairfield Hills (Hotshots versus JP Maguire) and Dickinson Park (J&J Pool versus Pootatuck Spirits).
The league will consist of 12 teams â Dunkinâ Donuts Coolattas, Emmett & Glander, Fireside, Gleason Group, Hotshots, JP Maguire, J&J Pool, Pootatuck Spirits, Stamford Tent, Tom Adams, Walker Industrial Products, and Walsh.
Games will be played four or five days a week, two and sometimes three at night spanning any or all of the three parks (Treadwell will be used only on Mondays because of other leagues and other commitments).
Each team will play an 11-game schedule with playoffs scheduled to begin the week of August 14. The league championship game is scheduled for Monday, August 21, at 7 pm with the league picnic starting at 6 pm under the pavilion.
