On Friday, August 15, at 7 pm, the SilverTones will perform at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street.

Reet Lubin of Brookfield, director of the band, plays the ukulele and sings. Other members perform on electric guitar, banjo, snare drum, acoustic guitar, and plenty of vocals.

Members represent several area towns and have performed at many civic events as well as nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The SilverTones have also played at The Strand Theater in Seymour.

The band promises that their show in Newtown will be a great time, “with a lot of foot stamping, clapping and joining in” with the musicians. The musicians have so much energy and drive, that one cannot help but become happy and involved with the show. Among the music they perform are songs by The Mamas and The Papas, Tony Orlando & Dawn, The Eagles and the Beatles.

Tickets for August 15 are $10, and $5 for ages 13 and under, with a $30 family maximum.

Tickets can be purchased at the church office; and C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

The performance is being hosted by NCC’s Circle of Love. Chairman Marie Sturdevant and any other member of the circle — Jane Landgrebe, Emi Lydem, Liz Eaton and Margot Hall — also have tickets available for purchase.

Following the concert, there will be a reception in the church hall featuring ice cream from Ferris Acres Creamery.

For additional information call Mrs Sturdevant, 203-740-2733, or the church office, 203-426-9024.
