Children’s Programs

*Summer Reading for children ages 4 through grade five continues to August 18. Children choose which books they wish to read, keep track of them on their reading records, discuss the books with young adult volunteers, and earn incentives for every five books read.

A raffle will be held on August 20, after the reading program ends, for grand prizes donated by area businesses.

*Summer Craft Programs: Ages 6 and up are invited to join Marie Walker for one of any of the craft workshops she is offering on Mondays from 3 to 4 pm. Upcoming programs are as planned: August 6, make a birdhouse; and August 13, make an easy-tie pillow.

Signup is required for each workshop, and can be done in the children’s department. There is no fee for this program.

*Meet the Rock Cats Mascot: Hear baseball stories and meet Rocky, the New Britain Rock Cats mascot, on Thursday, August 9, at 1 pm, in the meeting room. No registration required.

*C.H. Booth Library is 75!

On Thursday, August 16, the library will host a birthday party at the Edmond Town Hall gym from 1 to 3 pm. Airborne Jugglers will perform and birthday cake will be served.

Space is limited to the first 200 children. Parents must remain with their children for the duration of the program.

 Programs For Young Adults

*Mosaics Crafts with Katie Stevenson is being offered on Wednesday, August 8, from 1 to 2:30 pm. Space is limited to 15 young people entering fifth grade and up, and preference will be given to Newtown residents.

A supply fee of $4 is due at signup. Each participant should bring three or four natural items they have found to work into their design. Each item (such as shells, stone, glass pieces, etc) should be no more than 1½ inches square.

***Date Change for Digital Photography program: John Tucci of Flagpole Photographers Club will be leading a special Hands-On Digital Photography Workshop for young adults interested in learning about digital photography. The new date and time for this workshop is Saturday, August 11, from 10 to 11:30 am.

Limited to ten young adults entering grade 6 and up, the workshop will begin outside the library back door. Participants will walk around the library (outdoors and inside), and take photos and get pointers and assistance from Mr Tucci.

Participants may invite a parent or other adult to come with them. You’ll need to bring your own digital camera and manual. Registration is requested and can be done in person or over the phone.

Adult Programs
