Clarification

In a report published July 31 about an open session of the Board of Selectmen, resident David Shugarts was identified as the acting chairperson of a forming local committee called the Tick-Borne Disease and Action Task Force. First Selectman Joe Borst named Mr Shugarts to serve in that interim capacity until a permanent chair is voted upon. But that recommendation was never endorsed or denied by a full board vote, and the committee has yet to be seated. Mr Shugarts is currently Newtown’s liaison to the Fairfield County Municipal Deer Alliance.
