Paulette Jurewicz
We are sad to announce that on August 28, 2023, we had to say goodbye to Paulette Jurewicz, 74, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., where she retired with her beloved husband, Joseph P. Jurewicz.
Born in Montreal, Canada on October 6, 1948, Paulette was the only daughter of the late John L. and Clara M. Rippstein. She grew up in Harrington Park, N.J. and attended Northern Valley Regional HS in Old Tappan, N.J. She attended Quinnipiac University, where she met Joe.
Paulette and Joe were married on September 20, 1969. They were happily married for 54 years. They started their life together in Seymour, Conn. and Shelton, Conn. Paulette worked at Volvo Headquarters in Rockleigh, N.J., Asgrow Seed Company in Orange, Conn. and a very successful, independent agent of Princess House Crystal, where she received numerous awards.
Joe and Paulette later moved to Newtown, Conn., where they raised their family. Aside from being a dedicated full-time hockey mom, Paulette was very active in her community. She was a devoted and active member of St Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was a member of the Newtown Woman’s Club, Brookfield Bowling League, and a member of Rock Ridge Country Club, where she enjoyed golf and spent time with her friends.
Paulette’s passion was cooking large meals for family and friends to gather, enjoy many laughs and play games like Phase 10 (it remained a gag to “skip Paulette”) around her dining table. Paulette was also known to enjoy cruises, blue crab fishing at the Jersey Shore, sunny days on the beach, outdoor gardening and flower bed designing.
In addition to her husband Joe, Paulette is survived by her son, Adam John (Veronica); her son, Joseph Peter II (Daniele); her grandchildren, Justin, Jenna, and Joseph McGuff; her cousins, Susan Kirkpatrick (Ray), Phillip Bruckner (Cathy), Steven Bruckner (Johanna), Nolan Bruckner, Briella Bruckner, Debbie Lester; her lifetime friend-“sister,” Patricia McElroy and her goddaughter, Michele McElroy Buskiewicz.
Paulette “GP” (Grandma Paulie) was a joy for all who knew her and laughed with her. She always welcomed anyone into her life with open arms and a big loving heart. She will be greatly missed and leaves a legacy of traditions. God’s Peace.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 46 Church Hill Rd, Newtown, CT 06470. The family will receive guests at 9:30 am in the vestibule prior to the 10:30 am Mass.
The Rite of Committal will follow at St Rose of Lima Cemetery, 20 Cherry Street, Sandy Hook, CT 06482.
