To the Editor:

I own a small business in New Milford. I opened my doors in the spring of 2009. I have needed an additional body in the office to help with the phone and clerical work since the spring, but I am afraid to hire someone. Will the mystery that remains Obamacare require I provide benefits if I only need someone in the office 20 hours a week? 24 hours a week? This administration and the Congress that facilitates the insanity had done nothing but create uncertainty. Obamacare is an onion they are peeling one layer at a time. Until the onion is either fully revealed or repealed, small businesses remain frozen, and I will continue to work weekends to do the work I would happily hire another Connecticut resident to do. Chris Murphy is deaf to the concerns of small business. How many other businesses are in the same boat? All of them. If you can’t find work, and your adult children can’t find work, thank Chris Murphy, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid. They are all responsible for the current hiring paralysis. Sam Caligiuri is presenting us with reasonable (not business-hostile) ideas for reforming health care so that my small business and thousands of others in Connecticut and across the country will not face the same insane and paralyzing uncertainty. I hope Chris Murphy has better luck in the private sector when we vote him home for good in November.
