It Really Is Nicer

To the Editor:

For those still wondering if it really is “Nicer in Newtown,” our collective reaction to the unprecedented October snowstorm should dispel any doubts. Everyone pulling together, offering to help out in any way they can, and politely going about their revised and more austere routines are evidence of a resiliency and amiability not found today in many places. So congratulations to you Newtown citizens, you make us all proud.

Good luck to all of the candidates of every political stripe who are striving to be part of the solution. We certainly all don’t agree, and thank goodness for that, but I’m confident that everyone is motivated by trying to make our community a better place. The bottom line is that hundreds of people, many of them volunteers, work countless hours to make our community great.

In closing, let me remind everyone that Tuesday is Election Day. Voting is a small way to acknowledge the efforts of the people working hard to make Newtown the “best” place to live and work. A good turnout, during an off-year election, will be seen as yet another sign of Newtown’s unique and inimitable character.

Thanks again, Newtown.
