Deke Da Duck Dawg, a chocolate Labrador Retriever owned and handled by Newtown resident David Smith, traveled to Elkton, Delaware this past weekend to compete in the Del-Bay AKC registered hunt test. The test consisted of retrieves made from four stations, two land and two water, during which the dogs were rated for handling, trainability, and execution of the retrieves. Deke was one of 72 dogs that were entered in the junior class, and he was one of only 36 to complete the pass/fail test. This was the first hunt test entered for the 10 month old dog, who now has his first of four required “legs” towards his junior title.                                                - Bee Photo, Harmon
