Helen M. Basher

Helen M. Basher, 86, of Danbury, wife of the late Abraham F. Basher, died on November 1 at her home.

Mrs Basher was born in Lawrence, Mass., July 14, 1917, a daughter of the late Tufic and Mary (Kiamie) Milkey. She moved to Danbury with her family from Lawrence to Danbury, attended Danbury schools and resided here for the past 75 years.

She is survived by two sons, Randall J. Basher, Sr, and Abraham F. Basher, Jr, both of Danbury; a daughter, Nancy M. McCarthy of Danbury; a sister, Victoria Scalora of Newtown; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker, a sales associate with the former Sarah Beckerman Lingerie Shop of Danbury and later was employed by the Barden Corporation.

Mrs Basher was a member of St Anthony’s Maronite Church of Danbury, as well as its Ladies Guild.

The Liturgy of the Resurrection took place on November 5, in St Anthony’s Maronite Church, 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Burial followed in St Peter Cemetery.
