The United States Marine Corps Reserve’s annual Toys For Tots holiday season has begun. Donation drop-off sites are now available in town.

The nonprofit program collects new, unwrapped toys for children and teens. For many, these are the only toys they will receive during the holidays.

Each year, donations are given to Newtown families in need through various organizations and churches, as well as to children in surrounding towns who need support.

Newtown businesses currently participating as a public drop-off location for donations include:

*Berkshire Hathaway, 84 South Main Street;

*C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street;

*Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, 32 Church Hill Road (Suite 106);

*Cover Two Sports Café, 100 Church Hill Road;

*Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street;

*Eversource, 20 Barnabas Road;

*Giglio Landscape; 71 South Main Street;

*McKenney Mechanical, 15 Commerce Road;

*The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road;

*NewSylum Brewing Company, Keating Farms Avenue;

*Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street;

*Newtown Hardware, 61 Church Hill Road;

*Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street;

*Newtown Police Department, 191 South Main Street;

*Newtown Savings Bank, all locations;

*Newtown Woods, 1211 Brookside Court;

*Popowich Chiropractic, 71 South Main Street;

*Reverie Brewing Company, 57B Church Hill Road;

*Strength and Grace Boutique, 6 Glen Road; and

If your business would like to be a Toys For Tots drop-off location for donations or if you would like to host a party with donations going to Toys For Tots, e-mail the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys For Tots Area Coordinator Dave Silber at dave4handyman@gmail.com.

The toy drive will be completed on Friday, December 16, to distribute items to local families in need before the holidays.

Contactless drop-off and pick-up is being offered.

Be sure to check out The Newtown Bee’s Community Calendar for the Newtown Police Department’s Stuff-A-Truck event to collect for Toys For Tots at a date yet to be announced.

For those unable to drop off a toy in person, there is the option of making a monetary contribution or selecting a toy through the Virtual Toy Box at toysfortots.org.
