Besides his wife, Mr Matté is survived by three children, including Brian Matté, and his wife Kristin, of Newtown; four grandchildren; two siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr Matté served four years in the US Air Force Strategic Air Command during the Korean conflict.
He was an active member and developer of the Redding Soccer Club, volunteered for many years as a voting pollster for town of Redding, and worked part-time at the Redding Recycling Center for nine years.
A memorial service took place November 30, at The Christ Church Parish, Redding Ridge.
