‘Nutcracker’ Tickets On Sale

DANBURY — Danbury Music Centre’s production of Nutcracker Ballet will take place on Friday, December 10, at 7:30 pm; Saturday, December 11, at 6 pm; and Sunday, December 12, at 3 pm. Performances will be in the auditorium of Danbury High School, 43 Clapboard Ridge Road.

Tickets are $15, $20 and $25, and must be purchased in advance. The box office is at Danbury Music Centre, 256 Main Street in Danbury. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm; and Saturday, December 4, 9 am to noon. Cash and checks only are accepted.

Tickets will not be sold at the high school, nor at the door prior to performances.

This homegrown, hometown Danbury production began in 1967 and continues to be one of Danbury’s premiere annual cultural events.  Danbury’s Nutcracker is a popular holiday tradition, anticipated annually by thousands of people.

The 60-member Danbury Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Ariel Rudiakov, will perform the enchanting music by Tchaikovsky. There are 240 dancers in the cast and 25 singers in the snowflake chorus. The professional quality of the performance is enhanced by a professionally lit stage, and professionally built scenery and costumes.

The directors include the husband and wife team Arthur Fredric and Lisa Denton. Mr Fredric is the program’s the artistic director and co-choreographer and Ms Denton is the costume designer and co-choreographer. Technical director is Arnold Daley, and the lighting designer is Peter Petrino.

Danbury’s Nutcracker showcases many talented people from Danbury and the towns surrounding Danbury. Elaina Sutula, from Brookfield, has landed the coveted role of Clara.

In addition, Kaitlin Lipner of Ridgefield will dance the role of Sugar Plum Fairy, Ryan Bulson of Danbury is the Cavalier, the Dew Drop Fairy is Erin Gibbons from Hopewell Junction, Elizabeth Ibarra of Ridgefield is the Snow Queen, Serena Morin from Brookfield will dance the role of Arabian Queen, and Chris Smalley, of Stamford, will be Great Uncle Drosselmeyer.
