Wright          Montgomery

Wright Montgomery, a resident of Fairfield for 50 years, died at the age of 74 on May 5.

He was the father of Wright J. Montgomery of Newtown.

He was a graduate of Colgate University and served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. His business career was devoted to the marine insurance industry, starting with the firm of Leighton K. Montgomery Inc, later with J.F Frelinghuysen Inc, and concluding with 15 years at Marsh McLennan in New York City. He was a longtime member of the Country Club of Fairfield and the Pequot Yacht Club.

He is also survived by his three other children, Elizabeth Galpin of Bernardsville, N.J., Anne MacDougall of Ligonier, Penn., and Katherine Montgomery of Fairfield; and six grandchildren.

A service was held on May 10 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Southport.

It was his wish that contributions be made in his memory to Connecticut Audubon Society, 2325 Burr Street, Fairfield, CT 06430.

The Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements.
