Not Enough Time To Vote
Not Enough Time To Vote
To the Editor:
Once again the budget proposal has been defeated, supposedly by a âstatistically insignificantâ number of less than 30 percent of eligible voters who came out to voice their opinions on the townâs newest budget proposal. Is the Legislative Counsel blind to the fact that a âstatistically significantâ number of people work for a living outside of the townâs borders? Thereby making it nearly impossible for many of us to leave work early, fight traffic on our ill-equipped roadways in an effort to cast our votes in a two-hour window of time?
Someone clearly needs to get in touch with their constituents and realize that maybe two hours on a Tuesday evening may simply not be enough time for people to tend to their work and personal lives and still get out to vote.
