Fire Drill Planned At The Landfill

Joseph Tani, supervisor at the Highway Department, this week alerted residents living in the vicinity of the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road that a fire drill will take place there in the evening on Tuesday, May 15, weather permitting.

Members of the United Fire Company of Botsford will be setting fire to a house trailer at the landfill as part of their training exercise.

“We want residents to be aware that there will be smoke in the area so they won’t all start calling the emergency dispatch center,” Mr Tani said.

The trailer has been at the landfill for two years, Mr Tani said, after an eviction from a local trailer park. “This is the easiest way for the town to get rid of it, and at the same time to help the fire company with its training,” he said.
