State police report trucker Jeffrey W. Quillia, 39, of Gilman, Vermont, was driving a tractor-trailer truck in the left lane of eastbound Interstate-84 near Exit 9 about 2:30 pm May 21 while motorist James A. Nichols, 51, of Springfield, Mass., was driving a 2000 Chrysler minivan in the center lane. The two vehicles then made contact, state police said.
Larry W. Michaud, 61, no address given, who was a passenger in the minivan, was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of an eye injury, state police said.

Honda Vs Guardrail
State police said motorist Laura McNerney, 37, of 20 Fawnwood Road, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1996 Honda Accord on the Exit 10 on-ramp of eastbound Interstate-84 about 6:15 pm May 21, struck guardrailing along the ramp. State police investigated.
Purse Snatching
Police said they charged Geoffrey Cypher, 25, of Danbury on May 24 on a warrant at Danbury Superior Court, lodging a charge of sixth-degree larceny.
Police said the charge involves Cypherâs alleged attempt to steal a pocketbook April 3 from a shopping cart at Super Stop & Shop at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street.
Three days after that Stop & Shop incident, police had charged Cypher with third-degree robbery and second-degree larceny for allegedly stealing a purse from a woman shopper at the TJ Maxx store in the plaza on April 3.
Cypher was arraigned in court May 24 in connection with the Stop & Shop incident, police said.
Boulevard
A one-car accident took place about 7:45 am May 22 on The Boulevard near Hall Lane, police said.
Police said motorist Saurav G. Chatterjee, 17, of 20 Park Lane was driving a 1993 Ford Taurus northbound on The Boulevard when the Ford went out of control on wet pavement and entered a ditch. There were no injuries.
Intersection
Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of Bancroft Road and Alpine Drive in Riverside about 6:30 pm May 23.
Police said Bernard Piccirillo, Jr, of 96 Forest Drive, who was driving a 1986 Pontiac Sunbird, failed to obey a stop sign, resulting in a collision with James DeMattia of Easton, who was driving a 1990 Ford Festiva. Police said Piccirillo was transported to the hospital to be checked.
Two-Car Crash
Police report a two-car accident on Mt Pleasant Road between motorist Rita Dieck, 67, of 38 Echo Valley Road, who was driving a 2001 Subaru Legacy, and motorist Patricia McShea, 55, of Brewster, N.Y., who was driving a 1997 Subaru Outback, about 1 pm May 17. Police said there were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Dieck for failure to drive a safe distance apart.
Pocketbook Theft
Police said that sometime during the evening hours of May 19 someone stole a pocketbook from the front passenger seat of a vehicle parked in the Big Y supermarket parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village on Queen Street. There was no damage to the vehicle in the fourth-degree larceny, police said.

Taunton Lake Road
Police report an attempted burglary occurred at a Taunton Lake Road home about 11:30 am May 24.
The homeowner arrived at the house and saw the burglary suspect at the front door. The suspect then ran off, police said. No specific property loss or damage has been reported in the case, police said. Police ask anyone with information on the burglary attempt to contact them.
Computer Theft
Police report that a Fujitsu laptop computer and $50 in change were stolen from a Butterfield Road residence sometime between 6:40 am and 8:30 pm May 21. The stolen items are valued at over $3,000. Police ask anyone with information about the crime to contact them.

Coasting
Motorist Andrew Hoang, 17, of Bridgeport was driving a 1993 Toyota Paseo eastbound on Wasserman Way about 5 am May 25 and put the vehicle into neutral gear to coast downhill, but it gained too much speed and went out of control, leaving the right side of the road and striking guardrailing, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Hoang an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.
Route 302
Police report that when an eastbound school bus signaled to stop on Route 302 about 7 am May 24, westbound motorist Pamela J. Sweat, 33, of 11 Park Lane, who was driving a 1995 Ford Escort, stopped her auto.
Westbound motorist Shaun F. Buchholz, 21, of 104 Waterview Drive, who was driving a 1993 Dodge Caravan, however, did not stop in time and struck the Ford from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Buchholz a written warning for following too closely.
Boulevard Accident
A two-vehicle accident occurred on The Boulevard near Hall Lane on May 24, according to police.
The crash involved Mark D. Swigart, 45, of Fairfield, who was driving a 1988 Honda Accord, and Carol J. Mulready, 44, of Bethlehem, who was driving a 1988 Ford truck, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Swigart a written warning for failure to stay to the right on a curve.
South Main Crash
Police report a two-truck accident at the Mobil gas station at the intersection of Cold Spring Road and South Main Street about 8:40 am May 24.
The crash involved motorist Travis S. Willey, 30, of Shelton, who was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck, and motorist Rondal A. Setal, 29, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1998 Ford pickup truck, police said. There were no injuries. Police, who are investigating the crash, ask anyone with information about it to contact them.

DUI Charge
Police said motorist Leeanne Pierce, 23, of Brookfield was driving a 1996 Honda Civic northbound on Hattertown Road about 1:40 pm May 26, when she lost control of the car, struck a utility pole on the left side of the road, and then struck a tree and bushes on the right side of the road at #55 Hattertown Road. Pierce received injuries in the crash, as did passenger Quinn Fillippino, 22, of Monroe, police said.
Police said they investigated and charged Pierce with driving under the influence and making an improper turn.
After processing, police released Pierce on bond for a June 7 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Motorcycle Crash
Motorcyclist Chris Belair, 19, of Naugatuck was traveling southbound on Elm Drive about 3:30 pm May 29 when the motorcycle hit a storm drain and its wheels locked up, causing the vehicle to become unsteerable, police said. Belair jumped from the motorcycle, but in doing so he broke a wrist, police said. Police said the crash is under investigation.
Larceny
Police report they investigated a complaint and charged Nicholas E. Feola, 18, of 40 Algonquin Trail, Sandy Hook, with sixth-degree larceny on May 29.
Police said the investigation centered on medication missing from a Sunnyview Terrace residence. Police held Feola on a $1,000 bond for a May 30 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Fuel Missing
Approximately 70 gallons of diesel fuel were stolen from a 1981 Mack truck owned by JC Construction, Inc., sometime between May 21 and 29, police said. The truck was parked at the town highway garage on Turkey Hill Road at the time, police said. The stolen fuel is valued at $115. Police ask anyone with information on the theft to contact them.

Toddy Hill Accident
Motorist Carl Altieri, 22, of East Haven was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound on Toddy Hill Road about 1 pm May 24 when he slid on sand while rounding a corner, police said. Altieri steered to the right and went onto the road shoulder, police said. Altieri was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Hi Barlow Collision
Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of Hi Barlow Road and Eden Hill Road in Hattertown about 7 am May 29.
Motorist Christopher G. Peterson, 33, of 32 Aunt Park Lane, who was driving a 1987 Volkswagen Jetta westbound on Hi Barlow Road, failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign at Hi Barlow Roadâs intersection with Eden Hill Road, resulting in a collision with motorist Alan Popowski, 17, of 23 Split Rock Road, who had been northbound on Eden Hill Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Peterson an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to obey a stop sign.
Warrant Served
Police said Michael Janssen, 38, of Trumbull came to the police station on the morning of May 31 after learning police had a warrant for his rearrest.
Police charged Janssen with first-degree failure to appear in court and first-degree robbery concerning his failure to appear in Danbury Superior Court in connection with a first-degree robbery charge pending against him.
Police had initially arrested Janssen February 16 on a first-degree robbery charge stemming from a November 21, 2000, incident at the Blue Colony Diner on Church Hill Road. In that case, Janssen allegedly entered a back door of the diner and threatened an employee with a weapon, stole money from the employee, and fled the scene.
Police were scheduled to present Janssen in court May 31.
