Fraser-Woods School Auction Nets $55,000
The school has only been called Fraser-Woods for a few months now, but the Newtown Montessori Society saw no decrease in their annual fundraiser that helped net $55,000.
During a dinner and live auction held recently at Ridgewood Country Club, Montessori parents and supporters assembled in the banquet room to meet friends and bid on both a live and silent auction that featured many student-made crafts.
Available for auction were a bench carved by students, a quilt made by the schoolâs extended day class, and various examples of student artwork.
The auction committee spent the better part of the past year planning the event, which took on a heightened importance this year due to the Montessori Societyâs relocation from their old home in Dodgingtown to the former Gordon Fraser building on South Main Street.
The cost of the renovation to the Gordon Fraser building was $3.2 million, and every fund raised helps as the school looks to reach its goal of $600,000 for its capital campaign.
