SCAN Board Member Will Remain Visible For Remainder Of 1997
(with photos)
Artist and educator Carol Reilley will present a showing and sale of her
paintings in watercolor and oils at Edmond Town Hall in Newtown during the
months of November and December. The public is welcome to visit the outer
offices of the First Selectman, where rotating art shows are presented, Monday
through Friday between 8:30 am-4:30 pm.
A Newtown resident, Mrs Reilley works out of a studio in her home. She is on
the board of the Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, Inc, as well as the Kent
Art Association. She is also an active member of the North East Watercolor
Society and the American Watercolor Society.
She holds degrees in fine art and design, and currently lectures on an ongoing
basis for several universities in Connecticut.
Mrs Reilley's work has been published by Parsons School of Design. It has also
been included in the private collections of major American corporations and
universities.
Her unique way of seeing nature's drama is interpreted in her dramatic
landscapes and still lifes. Mrs Reilley's most recent solo exhibition was this
past summer, when the Fine Line Art Gallery in Woodbury - of which Mrs Reilley
is a member - presented a show entitled "Summer Essence." The exhibition
presented Mrs Reilley's depictions of New England's summer landscapes.
Works by Carol Reilley were included in last weekend's Watertown Art League
Fall Festival Show, a large annual event presented in the center of Woodbury.
In addition to the Edmond Town Hall/First Selectman's show, artworks by Carol
Reilley will also be available to view and/or purchase this weekend, when Mrs
Reilley takes part in the Annual SCAN Holiday Show. The show will be Saturday
and Sunday, November 1-2, at the Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in
Newtown (at the flagpole).
Through November 28, STAR Gallery (22 Cottage Street, Middletown, N.Y.) is
also presenting works by Carol Reilley.
