To The Editor:

In local elections the focus is almost always on the candidates for First Selectman. It is no surprise that this year is no different. However, there are many other positions to be filled and important choices that we have to make. One of the most important for public safety is who will be elected to our Police Commission.

This year there are four candidates seeking to fill two positions. We are very fortunate that one of them, who is willing to serve, is Neil Chaudhary. Neil is by far the most qualified of the four candidates. Not only has Neil previously served us very well for four years on the Police Commission, but Neil is an internationally recognized Traffic Safety Scientist, who has worked with police all across our country for 20+ years.

In addition, Neil has proven himself to be a fair, nonpartisan, solutions based, problem solver during his previous service as a member of our Police Commission and also during his prior service as Vice Chair on our Legislative Council.

Please join me in voting for Neil Chaudhary. Since Neil is running as a member of the nonpartisan Forward Party, he is located with the other Police Commission candidates on the back of the ballot four lines down from the top in position 30D.
