The Appearance Of Impropriety
The Appearance Of Impropriety
To the Editor:
Iâve served as a member of the Legislative Council for the past six years and am currently a candidate for reelection. I read the article in last weekâs paper about Joe Borst and the ethical issues involved in his votes on Board of Education matters and funding for school buses with some interest.
While I am proud of the fact that my wife, Maureen, is a teacher in the school system and I am a strong supporter of education, I have recused myself from voting on the teachersâ contract on those occasions when it has come before the council.
I think it is important to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.
